Chris Talbott on Fox and Friends to promote Heifer International

Posted on December 30, 2009 by Chris Talbott

Up before dawn, off to midtown for an encounter with a calf in the green room at Fox & Friends. Today I’m the spokesperson, so I am drilling my talking points so that Heifer International can really make the most of the moment.

A little nervous, but I know all eyes will be on the calf, and it helps that anchor Steve Doocy clearly loves Heifer’s work. Backstage I met Karl Rove followed by Billy Ray Cyrus. I really didn’t get to engage with Mr. Rove, but Billy Ray and his manager are  intrigued by Heifer’s work. Heifer’s spot went well and Steve invited me to join a special segment for Web only where I met fellow anchors Alisyn Camerota and Clayton Morris, both of whom really took to Heifer’s story.

Afterward, I gave Alisyn a copy of “Beatrice’s Goat,” a children’s book based on a true story about a girl who is able to go to school after the gift of a goat from Heifer International. That girl, Beatrice Biira, is now finishing her graduate degree here in the states. I could see was hooked, sure enough, a few weeks later Beatrice made her Fox & Friends debut!
